Tips for your Holiday Mail

Tips for Addressing Your Holiday Mail

In our digital world, there is nothing quite like a hand addressed envelope in your mailbox. Ever since I was a little girl I have waited daily for the mail to come. It still excites me to see what awaits me in the mailbox each day. Here are a few tips for making your holiday mail feel special and look beautiful.

  • Consider taking a calligraphy class. Then put your new skill to use by addressing your holiday cards and invitations. John Neal Booksellers has a list of local and online classes.

  • If you organize your address list in a spreadsheet, export your spreadsheet to a document. Format and center the addresses on the page. Place 4-5 addresses per page in larger type. This will help you center the address on the envelope and help you make less mistakes when penning the addresses.

  • Spell out street names, states and abbreviations when addressing. It makes for a more elegant envelope.

  • Use a nice pen. Before starting, buy a set of pens you enjoy writing with. Red, green or pink ink make for a festive envelope. I love to use these.

  • Order extra envelopes. That allows you room to make a mistake and not be worried about running out of envelopes.

  • Use vintage and holiday stamps. Stamps are the finishing touch, don’t let any little detail slip you by. I love these holiday selections from Magnolia Postage.

Tips for Selecting Your Holiday Stationery

Each year I love to have a theme for that Christmas and coordinate my invites, wrapping and holiday cards. While I do love the traditional holiday red and green, I also love to explore outside the box with other colors as well. My home has a lot of pink in it and so I love to use pink within my holiday decor and stationery. This year I am using the Famille Rose Medallion collection I designed for Dogwood Hill inspired by my own white and pink Christmas tree.

  • When selecting stationery, think about your home and what colors would coordinate with your china and decor.

  • Be inspired by your own holiday traditions. If you use nutcrackers to decorate or fruit in a wreath select stationery that captures and shares your traditions with others.

  • Once you select your invites, carry your theme through with a menu, place cards and gift tags. Place cards can really make a tablescape personal and special. I love to use this gold ink to pen the name on place cards. It really sparkles and dresses up your table whether you are using everyday china or your fine china.

My Holiday Look

This Holiday season I will be wearing my Sarah Flint Olive Rosie Loafers. I love to pair these green shoes with bright reds and pinks. My dress is from Cradle & Bee. I will also be wearing my Clarins Red Water Lip stain, I have never been one for lipstick, but ever since my mother gave me this stain, I want to wear it all the time.

Use code SARAHFLINT-BAHOLLY for $50 off your first order.
