A Morning in Forest Park

One of the lovely things about summertime is getting some extra time for creative retreats. This morning Gigi and I headed to Forest Park to visit Shoppe and have lunch at General. In the days of so much e-commerce it is magical to visit a local shop that offers an inspiring experience. Forest Park has always been one of my very favorite neighborhoods in Birmingham and I love the addition of these new establishments. For lunch I had the chicken salad with house chips and sipped on a refreshing house blend iced tea. I also took an iced coffee to go for my afternoon treat. I will say I think they have the best iced coffee I have ever had. It is their own blend they create in house.

I am wearing the Poplin Ruffle Neck dress from LAKE. This dress is perfect for Alabama summers. It can be dressed up or down. This is an heirloom dress I will have for many years, the quality is exceptional. It is so well made and completely lined, so no slip needed. It also has pockets. I styled with my white Natalie Flats from Sarah Flint, wicker handbag from J. McLaughlin and vintage ruffle and pearl earrings that belonged to my grandmother, Betty. My sunglasses are LeSpecs that I picked up at local boutique Shea Davis.
