tessa foley

Tessa Foley began her journey with a passion for creating cozy, welcoming homes. With a background rich in European heritage and countless summers spent along the sandy shores of Nantucket, Tessa's design aesthetic evolved into a harmonious blend of coastal charm and classic English elegance. Her blog, Nine and Sixteen Home, became a beloved online journal where she shared the simple joys of good living and the art of creating inviting spaces. As her audience grew, so did the demand for her decorating expertise, leading Tessa to expand her services to include online consultations for clients across the country.

Recognizing the need to align her brand with her growing business, Tessa sought to update her visual identity. The goal was to create a brand that captured her timeless, layered and warm design style, reflecting her ability to mix beautifully layered textiles and craft spaces that evolve gracefully over time. This rebranding effort also marked a significant transition, as Tessa redefined her business name from Nine and Sixteen Home to Tessa Foley Interiors, reserving Nine and Sixteen Home for her curated retail offerings.

creative process

The creative process for Tessa Foley’s new branding began with a deep dive into her design philosophy and sources of inspiration. Tessa's love for the culture and homes of the New England coast, coupled with her European roots, provided a rich tapestry of elements to draw from. Research into the quaint destinations she cherished and the timeless aesthetics of the New England style formed the foundation of the new brand identity. A key aspect of Tessa’s design is her use of block print textiles, which became a focal point in the branding exploration. By delving into the patterns and design elements of this traditional technique, I aimed to echo Tessa's talent for gathering and layering antiques and textiles within her interiors. The objective was to translate her unique ability to create inviting, timeless spaces into a cohesive visual identity that would resonate with her audience.

the identity

The new brand identity for Tessa Foley Interiors is a seamless blend of elegance and warmth, perfectly encapsulating the essence of Tessa's design style. At the heart of the brand mark is a hand-illustrated gathered bouquet, featuring the sweet briar rose, a familiar flower found in Nantucket, accompanied by maidenhair ferns, tulips, and berries. The bouquet, tied with a delicate bow, symbolizes Tessa's name, which means "to reap, to gather," reflecting her approach to interior design.

To further enhance the brand, ticking stripes and block print patterns were incorporated, allowing for the creation of layered visual elements within the brand collateral. This new logo and its accompanying visual elements not only reflect Tessa's signature style but also embody her ability to create spaces that feel both timeless and inviting. The rebranding has strengthened Tessa's professional image, facilitating a seamless transition from blogging to offering personalized interior consultations and curated retail products.
